Have you ever wondered what would happen today if the forces of good in the world operated according to Niccolo Machiavelli’s principles?
Iran is building a nuclear weapon while the rest of the world seems powerless to stop it. What would Niccolo Machiavelli do about it if he were alive today?
Cornell professor Jack McNair is the world’s leading authority on Machiavelli. So he is amazed, while on a research trip to Florence, when he discovers a long lost letter written by the great Italian philosopher. It lays out a brilliant plan to achieve world domination. Back home, McNair watches today’s geo-political events unfold until it becomes clear that America's enemies seem to be following the very plan contained in Machiavelli’s Letter. Though McNair is aware of how dangerous it will be, he decides to risk everything to prevent it - but not alone.
McNair recruits an eclectic band of his former students to help him take on the daunting tasks of exposing the plot and convincing Washington to stop it.
David Rodney – Former U.S. ambassador to the Vatican and Kremlin. Can he help gain access to the highest levels of government?
Mary McGuire – Internationally-acclaimed journalist and Middle-Eastern expert. Can she discover the link between Islamic terrorists and their benefactors in Moscow?
Albert Taylor – Wealthy founder of TaylorTrade, the first Internet stock brokerage. Will he provide the financial resources to fund their costly efforts?
Mark Ferguson – Rogue, former CIA operative. Can he keep this band of amateurs alive long enough to achieve their goal?
Their quest takes them from Ithaca, to New York, Washington, Beirut, Damascus, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas as they race against time to defeat America’s enemies.
McNair and his team of modern-day crusaders (the crociati) frantically try to assemble compelling evidence before it's too late. McNair, like a twenty-first century reincarnation of Machiavelli, leads them according the philosopher’s time-worn principles. Most important, he knows that …“Politics has no relation to morals.”
If you read The Prince in school, then you know Machiavelli believed that man has a penchant for evil and that sometimes, “the means justifies the ends.” If you have ever been frustrated that our enemies are deadly serious while we seem more concerned about political correctness, then read The Machiavelli Letter.
The Machiavelli Letter eBook Thomas Quinn
"The Machiavelli Letter" is a fast-paced thriller by Thomas Quinn. It is not for the politically correct, but for those willing to think outside the box. I devoured this book - I read it in a week and then recommended my husband read it.The premise is that a professor doing a research stint in Italy discovers a previously unknown letter penned by Machiavelli. In the letter, Machiavelli outlines a plan by which several countries could conspire to effectively bring down a major power. It soon becomes apparent to the professor that this is exactly what is happening today - a plot by the Russian and the Chinese working with Islamic Fascists to destroy the economic and social infrastructure of the United States. With the help of influential friends, the professor is soon engaged in the dangerous pursuit of tracking down terrorists inside the United States before they can detonate a nuclear bomb.
I had a few rough nights after reading this book - it's very plausible and pretty scary. Best of all, it's well written and sure to hold a reader's interest.
But - if you find yourself unable to sleep after reading this one, don't blame me. I warned you!

The Machiavelli Letter eBook Thomas Quinn Reviews
It was well-written...the author has excellent command of language. Inclusion of quotes from Machiavelli accomplished the goal of the plot. Quite a challenging read.
Because I hadn't read this author I didn't know what to expect. I bought the book based on the title and cover as I had been moved by "The Prince" many years ago.
This would make a great movie... like the Magnificent Seven meets The DaVinci Code. The best thing about the book are the characters who are like people you know... ordinary people in an extraordinary situation... what would you do if you were the world's leading expert on Machiavelli and you discovered a plot to..(oops! I almost gave it away.)
I have known people who have attended Cornell and I have visited there. The author really captures the flavor of the place as well as places like Las Vegas and Washington as well.
What I liked best is that I learned more about what's going on in the world and what we can do about it. Professor McNair, the protagonist, is my favorite character because he brings to life the precepts Machiavelli espoused.
OK, Thomas Quinn, I know you will read this. When is the next one coming? Thanks for a great read.
This book is a riveting read which you do not want to put down. It is fascinating how it relates to the current world situation and it is hard to differentiate where fiction begins and actual reality ends. Entertaining but also scary how political situations are exploited to suit different agendas of politicians and terrorists alike.
What a great story or could some of it be based on fact. It makes you look at our government in a whole different way. I could actually see some of this happening. I will look for other books from this author. Great job Mr. Quinn.
Awesome read. Full of The Prince's quotes, enmeshed with thrills, political intrigue, good dedicated people serving their nation and, as is usual trampled by clueless politicians. The premise of the novel is chilling and extremely terrifying in the thwarted outcome. Enjoyable. Conrad Samayoa
"The Machiavelli Letter" was an excellent read. It made me turn the pages quickly to find out how an ancient letter by a Florentine thinker could possess guidelines for our turbulent present days. This novel has a nice mix of history and thriller prose. I kept thinking that a thoughtful strong defense must be a state's first policy. Read it and enjoy yourself.
A very good book, a complex plot, great action, and very interesting cross section of terrorism, politics, and financial markets. Building on terrorism tensions that have grown since the first world trade center bombing in the 90s, China's emergence as a super power, and Russia's desperate push to be relevant on the world stage again, Mr. Quinn weaves a complex plot that requires politicians to take action contrary to the current narrative that filters all actions through a prism of political correctness.
